Although the day started out a little cool and blustery, the sun was kind enough to make an appearance and we all had a great time, enjoying the greenery as well as some incredble flowers brought on by ample spring rains along with the great traction made possible by said rains. We rode about 7 miles to a quaint Mexcian food restaurant on the shores of the lake, where we enjoyed hot chips and salsa and a hearty lunch on the sunny patio. We were a little sluggish on the way back, but I'm certain we burned off every single calorie consumed!

Sycamore Canyon is always a burner and with the "new" switchbacks, even more so. We climbed, and we climbed and then we climbed some more. A large black raven kept deciding to greet us along the trail, letting us just catch up to him before flying ahead a couple hundred yards to lie in wait. Was this a bad omen of some sort that we should be heeding? Well, I'm happy to report that there were no crashes and nary a dab on even the trickiest parts of the trail. Everybody did great. We logged 18 miles back at the car and we headed straight to Mary's Donuts, figuring we all deserved a sweet reward!

What a gorgeous day for a ride! We started from the ball fields at about 8:30 a.m. and headed to take a quick gander at the historic ranch house, (also the site of the nicest public restrooms just about anywhere!) We hit the nice windy trail on the north side of the creek where we splashed through our first water crossing. We arrived at the waterfall in about 25 minutes and stopped for a quick gander. Then we headed up onto the mesa and found some sweet new singletrack. We came down by the frog pond and then continued west on the fire road until we decided to turn around for another pass by the beautiful waterfall. We logged about 16 miles after we got back to the vehicles.
