Ride Safely
These rules are from IMBA, the International Mountain Bike Association
(www.imba.com), a trail advocacy group in the U.S., Canada, Europe,
Asia and South America.
The way we ride today shapes mountain bike trail access tomorrow. Do your part to
preserve and enhance our sport's access and image by observing the following
rules of the trail, formulated by IMBA, the International Mountain Bicycling
Association. These rules are recognized around the world as the standard code of
conduct for mountain bikers. IMBA's mission is to promote mountain bicycling that
is environmentally sound and socially responsible.
1. Ride On Open Trails Only. Respect trail and road closures (ask if uncertain); avoid trespassing on private
land; obtain permits or other authorization as may be required. Federal
and state Wilderness areas are closed to cycling. The way you ride will influence
trail management decisions and policies.
2. Leave No Trace. Be sensitive to the dirt beneath you. Recognize different types of soils and
trail construction; practice low-impact cycling. Wet and muddy trails are more
vulnerable to damage. When the trailbed is soft, consider other riding options.
This also means staying on existing trails and not creating new ones. Don't cut
switchbacks. Be sure to pack out at least as much as you pack in.

Stay Hydrated
Make sure you’ve had a good meal within the last couple hours (but not
within a half hour of start time) and be well-hydrated BEFORE you ride.
We can’t emphasize this enough. It will make a huge difference in your
level of enjoyment! If you prefer sports drinks over water, chug one or
two well in advance of the start of your ride.
Apply sunscreen
at least 20 MINUTES BEFORE ride departure. It takes awhile for
sunscreen to be effective and you will get burned if you put it on
right before leaving. (We’ll stop to reapply once or twice if you burn easily ‘cause we’ll be sweatin’)
Wear
knee and/or elbow pads or protective armor if you tend to be on the daring side! All bike seat bags are equipped with a small first aid
kit but prevention is the best cure!
Download our online waiver/consent form and either fax to us or bring the signed form to the ride. Also please complete a rider evaluation form if you are unsure of your skill level. |
